At United Way Winnipeg’s 2019 Celebration, the grand finale of the annual fundraising campaign event, Winnipeggers learned just how much they raised for our community this past year.
“You did it, Winnipeg! $21.6 million for our community! Our largest achievement ever!” said Jeff Goy, President and CEO of Wawanesa Insurance and United Way Winnipeg’s volunteer 2019 Campaign Chair. “Now, we can help even more people across our community.”
United Way Winnipeg announced its ambitious campaign goal this past September at its annual Plane Pull. 100% of all campaign dollars raised go directly towards Winnipeg’s community fund, ensuring stable and sustainable funding to a network of over 100 donor-supported agency partners and programs that provides life-changing services to Winnipeggers throughout our community. Some campaigns are still running with donations still coming in.
“We achieved this record-breaking goal because of the immense generosity of the people and businesses of our city,” said Goy. “Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, gave whatever they could and helped to make a difference. Together, we are empowering the vital network of community agencies that serve hundreds of thousands of Winnipeggers.”

Thanks to the generosity of Winnipeggers, the volunteer-led organization can continue to fund the programs and services of the agency partners and programs that support United Way Winnipeg’s key priorities: helping kids be all they can be, moving people from poverty to possibility, and helping ensure healthy people and strong communities.
“United Way Winnipeg was founded over 50 years ago with the fundamental belief that when we come together and give in a united way, we can create social change,” said United Way Winnipeg’s volunteer Board Chair, Joan Hardy. “And United Way Winnipeg is doing that every day.”
