The inaugural GenNext Summit brought almost 300 young leaders to the RBC Convention Centre to learn and share ideas for moving forward towards a more thriving Winnipeg.
Sessions on mentorship, homelessness and reconciliation included wonderful knowledge and insights.
Panelists included amazing leaders in our city like End Homelessness Winnipeg CEO Louis Sorin, Aboriginal Youth Opportunities’ Michael Redhead Champagne, and Connie Walker, CEO of United Way Winnipeg.
CBC Manitoba host Marcy Markusa led a discussion about the future of our city, and Gail Asper, President and Trustee of The Asper Foundation will gave the closing keynote.
Hanwakan Whitecloud, joined by Jaimie Issac and Wendy Whitecloud, speaks during The Seeds of Reconciliation panel discussion moderated by Tina Keeper.
Summit attendees also had a chance to mix and mingle with United Way agencies to discover volunteer and board opportunities.
GenNext volunteers, who did all the heavy lifting to make the Summit happen, posed for a picture with some United Way Winnipeg employees at the end of the day.
The 2017 Summit, planned for October 18, will explore the theme of Identity, and what that means as an individual, a generation, a community, and a city.
