Help Now

Winnipeg needs #GivingTuesdayNow!

#GivingTuesdayNow is an opportunity for people, in Winnipeg, and around the world to stand together in unity—to use your individual power of generosity to remain connected and heal.

United Way Winnipeg donor-funded agency partners are working tirelessly to provide front-line support to Winnipeg’s most vulnerable, but due to increased demand, they need more to continue offering this critical help.

We invite all Winnipeggers to join United Way Winnipeg, and the whole world, in a demonstration of the power of kindness and generosity.

Help Winnipeg heal

On May 5th, let’s all show the power of human connection and how it can strengthen our community.

Because we love Winnipeg. And because we always are, and always will be, stronger together.

What will YOU do to spread some kindness in our community on May 5th?

  • Donate to the COVID-19 Community Response Fund. Every dollar raised by the Fund will go directly to front-line community agencies who are supporting vulnerable populations, like Winnipeggers in poverty and those experiencing homelessness.
  • Put up drawings & signs of encouragement in your windows so people who walk by can feel a groundswell of kindness
  • Call your elderly neighbour, or a friend or family member who lives alone—a phone call means so much more than a text or email. See if they need any help.
  • Mail a hand-written letter. What a wonderful surprise!
  • Drop off letters to your neighbours—include your phone number and let them know they can call you if they need food, essentials, or just to chat.
  • Video chat with your friends/family with kids and offer to read or sing to them to give the parents a break.
  • Organize a virtual neighbourhood sing-along.
  • Send a food or floral delivery to a family or friend.
  • Make a concerted effort to share GOOD NEWS on social media.
  • Donate blood if you are eligible.
  • Donate food, hygiene supplies, and baby formula to agencies that are looking for help.

Every act of kindness is not only a beacon of hope, it’s also a critical act of civic and social solidarity.

Never underestimate the power of even the smallest act of kindness or a $10 donation. It has the potential to change a life. And when multiplied by thousands of people, small gestures of local love can transform the world.
